Wow! I'm rather surprised to see all the apparent bitterness on here .... though perhaps I don't know the full story?
When I first met Neil Dale at a shoot he struck me as being of pretty high intelligence and although I really did not appreciate his hair style and as a consequence initially couldn't understand his position within NOBS, I was able to forgive him for his (lack of!) haircut once we started to chat, LOL!
I was also concerned to see the portrait painted of him on here regarding his love life ... which for some reason conjured up an image of him floating about the country with a lover 'at every shoot'!
Now I really don't know much about him, but I just wonder whether picking on somebody's love life is fair? Who's business is his private life? Many people have extra-marital relationships, many marriages break down ... nothing is set in cement. IF Neil is now in a relationship with a lady who beats where I also go (which I think may be the case) then good luck to him. She is a rather attractive, lovely, single person ... and although I feel somewhat sorry for any wife/kids how many of us know what his marriage is/was really like? We only live once .......
If as has been intimated he's a bit of a rover, then I retract some of my words. But how many of us know the actual circumstances? Or is it all just gossip and rumour? Anyone have any proof of any wrong-doing?
As far as 'handing out goodies/freebies' is concerned, if they were intended for the membership then that is wrong, without question. However, if they were handed to NOBS with no restrictions imposed then it's not an uncommon practice for directors etc to hand out such freebies to their key staff or amongst themselves. Having been a co-opted director of 3 companies I can assure you that this is widespread ... and in many cases is fully justified. Though unfortunately I have only once been on the receiving end of such a 'gift' ... and gave most freebies to my staff, or held a draw for them.
I am no longer a fan of NOBS for various reasons, or the way NOBS is run, but I just wonder about the fairness of laying into NOBS individuals on here in relation to their personal lives?
Stickler (.... perhaps a tad in the dark? If so, please enlighten me ..... )

With regard to the giving away of donated items, I personally obtained a Musto Keepers Jacket, a Subscriotion to The Field, a pair of Hunter Wellys and a number of other items that were to be auctioned off on the site.
All of these items were sent directly to the organisation, so as not to have any chance mis-understanding.
Not one item was ever auctioned off. They all vanished.
It seems from reading additional comments, that this was not an isolated incident.
And that makes me rather anti the whole business / organisation.
On a personal note, I was very un-happy with the attitude of various officers / directors within the company and the way they treated others including myself, when we all paid our subscriptions (£10 in my case, as I run a shoot) in good faith and then proceeded to act as if they were God.
The final straw was when I offered a couple of day pegs at greatly reduced cost to members of the organisation, only to recieve some very nasty PM's from their CEO and a so-called Regional Officer. _________________ Bastard for Hire.

may we go along with Stickler - comments on the way any organisation is run are fair - when it involves someones private life then it may pass over the bounds of respectability as there are other people involved, totally innocently in the main, who may be offended - deeply offended and are less able to defend themselves.
That said rumours will always abound when there is a lot of secrecy and no openess. |

I think poor Laura at Black Gundog would be mortified to think that anyone thought she was having an affair with NOBS CEO!
She's very happily married as far as I know.
