Your reply is disgraceful and will be published on every forum to which i belong. I consider your tone and negativity totally unacceptable in modern times and will ensure that your patronising attitude is exposed to the widest audience.
When will you address the valid comments which i have made?
I will not rest until you give me a satisfactory answer.
You have made a big mistake in firstly using pictures to which copyright has not been ceded, and I am informed that the holder of copyright can now name his price if he wishes to proceed for breach, secondly in allowing erroneous claims in the appendix regarding the availabilty of services to engage beaters pickers up, loaders and shoots- there are at least four alternative organisations offering the same for nothing.
Your publication is therefore not accurate and a correction/amendment is necessary
Yours sincerely
Nick Cordery

I have not had a reply to my previous email querying the discrepancies in prices betwixt Amazon, Tesco and NOBS for a newly issued edition,
Surely you cannot be discounting the new edition to such an amount.?
Upon reading the book - purchased for nearly 1/2 price from Amazon - I see that you on behalf of NOBs have printed a picture on page 71 to which you dont have copyright or permission, and in Appendix 6 NOBS claims to be THE ONLY ORGANISATION designed for beaters, pickers up and loaders - they are not -there are at least three others doing exactly the same and all FREE OF CHARGE.
In the same Appendix it is stated that all of the NOBS team participate in their Forum - I have hard copy stating that NOBS OFFICE STAFF DO NOT PARTICPATE IN THEIR FORUM.
To be frank this publication is so littered with errors that it should never have been issued.
Are the books already issued going to be recalled for correction?

Another error in Appendix 2 for Humane Game Bird Despatchers recommemnds William Powell & Son in Birmingham.

I had read and remembered many shooting press reports saying that they had moved, soo looked up their website.

"The 150 year old Birmingham City Centre shop became an increasingly unsuitable base for the company due to lack of parking and poor delivery/loading facilities. It had become near impossible to operate a rurally orientated retail and mail order business from a city centre location. The decision was made to move to a new site at Banbury in Oxfordshire in the autumn of 2008"

Did anyone involved in this book actually have any knowledge of shooting?

Ive been busy and havent actually read the main content, some pics arent bad but some of the clothes worn in others seem rather dated.

Page 55 colour print Driving through a town or village.
6 beaters seated on straw bales in a small trailer, no sides, one with foot resting on the mudguard,no safety protection, three more in rear of the the towing vehicle - a pick up with Ifor Williams style rear cover, with the mesh door locked DOWN.
heading for a grouse moor with presumably hills and valleys etc.
What would happen in an accident situation?

A similar picture appeared in "Gamekeepers Diary" on NOBS Forum and there was a debate then so they must be aware of the Health & Safety issues by now.

Not really the sort of image to publish in a book promoting Beating & Picking up

BASC have published helpful guidance - the picture depicts transport arrangements which do not comply.

I am even more concerned that the publisher has been advised of the shortfalls, and downright errors in this publication, but has ignored them, issuing a rather patronising reply to the extent that they do not respond to anonymous emails, despite the fact that my name was appended and that I subsequently gave them my full contact details.

I regret that unless that I am advised that a correction is issued, confirming that the picture in particular is prior to modern Health & Safety regulations governing the transport of beaters and does not show best current practice then I shall take this matter further bringing the matter to the attention of whoever I feel appropriate.

Health & Safety must be at the forefront of us all in this day and age of compensation culture.

It would appear that little has been changed in this edition from the first apart from the photographs by Lee Hurst

Must apologise to Andrew Whelan, he has one photograph in the book, and he and Lee Hurst are acknowledged as owning the copyright to their photographs.
Odd that Mike Roberts, who apparently took the pic on page 71 hasnt the same acknowledgment?

Pagev 96 is I believe a photograph from 1999. It depicts a gunroom with birds hanging on a wall.
On every shoot where I beat or pick up the keeper cant wait to get birds cooled down and into his chiller asap.
Modern food handling regulations dictate that any food destined for human consumption be handled appropriately and with modern winters being milder than usual it is essential that birds be refrigerated soonest.
